From 13 December, the Kasseler Kunstverein will be showing the second phase of Catrine Val’s project Kaleidoskop·der·Zeit – Geschichten·aus·der·Diaspora¶

Visitors are greeted by a walk-in installation consisting of oversized garments hanging from the ceiling, film, text and sound. Garments – inspired by traditional cuts such as galabeya, caftan and shalwar kameez – carry the stories of women within them. A web of fabric, voice and memory, together with a polyphonic sound installation, allows the narratives to flow quietly through the room as a poetic whole.
In the adjacent correspondence room, visitors encounter narratives in the form of a storyboard, similar to a film. A double film projection connects the women’s voices with the landscapes of Kassel – as a visual metaphor for change, belonging and the future.
Accompanying the exhibition is a comprehensive supporting programme that continues the ideas of movement, encounter and resonance. It combines theatre, music and dialogue and opens up the Kunstverein as a place of lived polyphony.
Kaleidoscope·of·Time – Stories·from·the·Diaspora¶ is more than an exhibition. It is a growing archive of female presence – a space that shows that migration is not the end of a story, but the beginning of many new ones. It is an invitation to listen, to understand, to act – and to think about the future together.
