At Kasseler Kunstverein, Danish artist Tanja Nis-Hansen presents a large scale installation composed of 30 oil paintings that form four monumental letters: G R W M. The acronym stands for “Get Ready With Me”, a social media phenomenon in which people show in short videos how they prepare for different occasions.
Removed from its digital context, the phrase becomes an invitation to a collective rehearsal for what is to come. Between painting, language and space, the exhibition asks how we prepare for unknown futures, how present conditions shape what we expect, plan and consider possible, and in which directions we orient ourselves in order to retain a sense of control and self determination.
